Synopsis

'Thul' was once a righteous police officer with a bright future ahead of him. Until he was commanded to drop the drug case he had been working on, one of the leading cases of all time, merely because the defendant involved was a big-shot politician. The case was eventually dismissed and Thul decided to forgo the forces. 

One thing that common folk like us don't realize is the existence of a secret organization within our country. Established almost 30 years ago, the objective of this organization is to eradicate all menaces residing above and beyond the law of our society; corrupt politicians, drug dealers disguised in business suits, those who have reaped their fortunes in the child prostitution industry, and all the prominent people who live by legal loopholes. The organization strictly adheres to the belief in 'Creating righteousness, where righteousness no longer exists.' This belief system, originating in the United states, has become an integral part of numerous nations across the globe; and it's been almost 4 years since Thul's transformation into a hired gunman, an assassin working within this secret organization. His latest assignment sank a bullet in his head. Fortunately, Thul survived, prevailing past the coma that kept him confined for 2 months. 

Upon waking, Thul begins to see things upside down; and although his physical state is in perfect condition, he continues to perceive things the wrong side up. An assassin seems no occupation for someone who sees things in an upturned manner. Thul parts ways with the organization, deciding that it is time to lay down the gun, say farewell to the past, and head back to his hometown to lead a simple and peaceful existence. 

But 'karma' has a way of dealing with sinners, and the sins that Thul has committed seem to have him clenched within its clutches. Are the virtues that Thul has faithfully abided by, truly virtuous after all? As a man, putrefied of sins, will monkhood provide Thul with the sanctuary that he seeks? 

“We may be through with the past, but the past isn't through with us,” is the concept that this film wishes to investigate, along with the audience, under the theme of karma and retribution.

“ตุล” เป็นอดีตนายตำรวจหนุ่มมือสะอาดอนาคตไกล แต่วันหนึ่งเขาถูกบังคับให้ทิ้งคดียาเสพติด คดีใหญ่ที่สุดคดีหนึ่งเพราะจำเลยในคดีนั้นคือผู้มีอิทธิพลเหนือกฎหมาย หลังจากคดีถูกยกฟ้อง ตุลตัดสิน ใจลาออกจากราชการ

    
สิ่งหนึ่งที่ประชาชนธรรมดาๆ อย่างเราไม่รู้ก็คือ ในประเทศเรามีองค์กรลับๆ องค์กรหนึ่ง ถูกตั้งขึ้น มาเมื่อราวๆ สามสิบปีมาแล้วเห็นจะได้ จุดประสงค์ขององค์กรนี้ก็เพื่อ “เก็บ” มารสังคมที่กฎหมาย ทำอะไรไม่ได้ เช่น พวกนักการเมืองคอรัปชั่น พ่อค้ายาเสพติดที่มาในรูปของนักธุรกิจ หรือว่าพวกที่ ร่ำรวยอยู่ในอุตสาหกรรมค้าประเวณีเด็ก และอิทธิพลเหนือกฎหมายทั้งหลาย เป็นต้น องค์กรนี้เชื่อว่า “ในเมื่อความชอบธรรมไม่มีในสังคม เราก็ต้องสร้างความชอบธรรมขึ้นมาเอง” ความคิดนี้เริ่มต้นใน ประเทศอเมริกา และปัจจุบันหลายๆ ประเทศต่างก็มีองค์กรเช่นเดียวกันนี้ ตุลได้กลายมาเป็น มือสังหารขององค์กรนี้มาราวสี่ปีแล้ว งานชิ้นล่าสุดของเขา ตุลพลาดท่าถูกยิงที่ศีรษะ เขารอด ตายหวุดหวิด แต่ก็นอนโคม่าอยู่ร่วมสองเดือน

เมื่อฟื้นขึ้นมาตุลเห็นภาพทุกอย่างกลับหัว และถึงแม้ว่าเขาจะพักฟื้นจนร่างกายสมบูรณ์แล้ว สายตาของเขาก็ยังเห็นภาพกลับหัวอยู่เช่นเดิม มือสังหารไม่น่าจะเป็นอาชีพที่ดีนัก สำหรับคนที่ เห็นทุกอย่างกลับหัว ตุลจึงตัดสินใจลาออกจากองค์กรลับแห่งนั้น เขาคิดว่าถึงเวลาแล้วที่เขาจะ
วางปืน อำลาอดีต และกลับไปบ้านเกิดในชนบท เพื่อมีชีวิตใหม่ที่เรียบง่ายและสงบสุข

แต่ “กรรม” ที่ตุลทำไว้ในอดีต จะปล่อยให้เขาหลุดจากบ่วงของมันไปได้ง่ายๆ จริงหรือ ความชอบธรรมที่เขาเชื่ออย่างสนิทใจว่าเขามีส่วนสร้างมันขึ้นมานั้น แท้จริงแล้วมันเป็นความ ชอบธรรมจริงหรือ และสมณเพศที่ตุลตัดสินใจเข้าไปใช้ชีวิตอยู่นั้น จะสามารถให้ความสงบร่มเย็น กับคนที่ยังไม่ได้รับการอโหสิกรรมอย่างเขาได้จริงหรือ

“มนุษย์เราอาจจะลืมอดีตได้ แต่อดีตจะไม่มีวันลืมเรา” นี่คือประเด็นที่ภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้พยายามจะ ร่วมค้นหาไปกับผู้ชม ภายใต้ธีม (THEME) ของกรรมและผลของมัน
